Job description
At Lakeshore, we create innovative learning materials and world-class guest experiences for teachers, parents and children. Since 1954, we’ve grown into a global community—with a thriving e-commerce business, multiple catalogs, 60+ retail stores, a peerless national sales force, plus international offices that support our preeminent supply chain division. But today we’re working better, smarter and faster than ever—and setting our sights even higher. We’re building an infrastructure designed for scalability, embracing data-driven decision-making and using technology to improve efficiency and ensure the best tools for the best work. Most importantly, we continue to invest in a diverse team of inquisitive top talent who fuel each other’s passions and curiosity, take risks, try new things, and believe that every new day brings opportunities for growth.
In a time of unprecedented expansion, we are seeking a highly skilled Chief Technology Officer to make executive technology decisions on behalf of Lakeshore, including managing a budget and making investments to align the company’s vision with its technological needs. In this role, you will manage Lakeshore’s core technology roadmap, including infrastructure, applications, security and end-user support. The position also will drive technological innovation and create effective strategies to modernize and maintain our network, applications, servers and data. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and an effective communicator who can act as both a technology and business expert, working directly under the Chief Process Officer in the Technology division. Considering Lakeshore’s comprehensive needs, we are seeking someone who has previously served in an executive IT role at a company with at least $2 billion in revenue. And we’re here to help you succeed—in 2022 Lakeshore earned its Great Place to Work® Certification™ and is proud to put its associates first.
A day in the office looks like this:
- Implementing tools and processes for proactive monitoring and management of critical infrastructure and applications
- Leading technology governance and ensuring our prioritization process engages and supports key stakeholders
- Championing agile application development and delivery
- Ensuring effective planning, management and maintenance of enterprise technologies
- Building high-performing IT teams of diverse individuals with various experience levels and skill sets
- Managing technology budgets, roadmaps and schedules
- Leading transition from legacy technologies to modern platforms, cloud capabilities and tools
- Maintaining effective security posture
Got the skills and experience? Here’s what we’re looking for:
- 15+ years of technology leadership experience with 5+ years as an IT executive (VP of Technology, CIO, CTO) at a large corporation; record of successful technology transformation a plus
- Computer Science or related degree
- Demonstrated success supporting a rapidly growing business
- Experience in setting objectives, goals and strategies for the IT department
- Experience driving adoption of agile methodology and structured-release management that supports a blend of packaged, SaaS and custom applications
- Fiscal fluency (P&L, balance sheet, forecasting, budgets) and ability to articulate and demonstrate return on investment
- Experience developing and implementing IT policies, procedures and best practices
- Effective team builder and leader who drives accountability and inspires associates
