This post is a key part of our Team Wilder approach to empower 1 in 4 people across Somerset to take action to restore nature within their communities, reclaiming and creating new green spaces for nature in rural and urban places on their doorstep. Team Wilder represents a transformational shift in our engagement model as we transition to a community organising approach.
Through Team Wilder we will build a network of community members who we will empower to take action to achieve common goals, develop leadership skills and form relationships with other community members.
This role will focus on supporting young people (aged approximately 12-25 years old) across Somerset to join Team Wilder, we will help increase their knowledge, skills, opportunities and voice to initiate and take the lead on climate and nature-based activities in their area, influencing and working with their peers to raise awareness of the importance of restoring nature where thy live, study and work.
Our Wilder Youth Officer is critical to the development and delivery of our Team Wilder ambitions, strengthening our ability to support young people to develop an interest in the natural environment and empowering them to act on their concerns for its future.
