The Pre Assessment team aims to assess, and optimise patients prior to patients being given an admission date for surgery. This is done via HCSW telephone health questionnaire triage, which is then followed up by a face to face or telephone assessments with a qualified nurse.
The qualified staff also work closely with consultant anaesthetists in order to assess complex patients.
The service is nurse led and involves the review of blood results, requesting and actioning investigations and the escalation of abnormal results to surgeons and anaesthetists.
