Job description
If you love babies, this is the role for you.
We’re an industry-leading baby photography business, and we’re looking for someone a little bit different.
You see for us, taking timeless photos is what we do. But that’s not the whole story. That’s where you come in.
We need you to make sure the babies are relaxed and settled ready to create the best possible photographs.
The success of the shoot rests on getting this bit right, which is why we’re after a bona fide baby whisperer – someone who loves kids, loves babies, and is talented when it comes to getting them to relax and play their part in creating beautiful images.
That’s the job we’re looking for, and here are a few of your key responsibilities:
You’ll work with babies around 7-10 days old (for the most part, sometimes they’ll be a bit younger, sometimes a little older).
- You’ll prepare the studio for the shoot, making sure we’re all good to go when baby arrives
- Each photography session takes between 2 and 4 hours, and your job will be to soothe and comfort baby during that time, ensuring the photographer gets the right shots and giving mum and dad a much needed break!
- During the shoot, you’ll gently move sleeping babies into various positions, allowing our award-winning photographer to capture beautiful and timeless art for our customers (don’t worry, we’ll show you exactly what to do and give you full training)
- Cleaning the studio and client areas in-between appointments making sure everything is beautifully presented and ready for the next appointment
- All in all, you’re there to deliver a wow experience to apprehensive new parents, and help them remember this incredibly important and emotional milestone
This role will be perfect for you if:
- You’re physically fit, and find it easy to get around
- You love babies, playing with them, and making them happy
- You’re happy working in a warmer than normal environment (we have to keep the studio warm for baby!)
- You’re fully vaccinated against Covid-19 (including your booster jab)
- You’re patient, methodical and able to concentrate for long periods of time
- You can follow a system
- You have a kind, calm and empathetic nature
- You’re confident and have a bubbly personality
- You’re good with older children (sometimes brothers and sisters join in)
What are the hours and what’s the pay like?
There are both full and part-time opportunities for the right person, and the pay is very good indeed. If you’ve worked in a childcare setting before, and you’re after something that probably pays you more and is definitely less frenetic, then there’s a good chance this could be right for you.
What this job ISN’T
It’s not a photography job, nor is it a gateway into photography.
We have the photography covered, and what we’re after here is someone who can help bring those photos to life by being baby’s best friend.
The next step
If you’ve read this far and you’re keen, the next step is to send us your CV together with a cover letter that tells us why you’d be a fantastic fit for this role.
