Background
The Web Development team is responsible for the development and support of City websites, online applications and the intranet.
We work with the City Marketing and Communications team, schools, departments and centres to create useful, informative web sites for prospective and current students. We build responsive, accessible, and standards-compliant websites, using modern technologies and according to best practices.
As Web Developer, you will work as part of a small team to develop and maintain City websites and bespoke web applications, and provide support for content editors.
Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of the role include contributing to the development of the primary City websites, providing second-line support for the University websites, working with City stakeholders to gather requirements and advise on web development practices, contribute to project planning.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Experience of developing responsive, accessible and standard-compliant web sites, knowledge and experience of software testing, experience with a Unix shell such as bash of zsh.
They will have good interpersonal and team-working skills as well as good problem analysis and solving skills.
