Support Worker (No personal care)
About us:
Next Step Services offers supported living accommodation to 16- to 25-year-olds. The primary objective is to enable our young people to become emotionally stable and self-sufficient to live independently as well as ensuring they maintain a clean home environment. Next Step Services is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults and expects all staff to share this commitment. Due to growth; we are looking to recruit experienced residential support workers.
About the role:
You will be based at our group living, supported accommodation in Reading. Your role will require you to support young people within our supported living homes to ensure they receive the highest standard of support appropriate to their individual needs. This will involve teaching young people life skills (No personal care involved). As part of your duties, you will need to do daily house checks to ensure the health and safety of our young people and you will also be required to build strong working relationships with local authorities and other professional organisations. You must be able to work flexibly which would be determined by the company’s requirements, this will include working evenings, night sleep-ins and weekends. All successful candidates offered employment will be subject to compulsory screening checks; this will include employment references and an enhanced DBS check.
Essential requirements are:
· Right to Work in the UK.
· 2 References.
· 1-year minimum any working experience required.
· No convictions (Enhanced DBS check required).
· Caring personality.

Desirable requirements are:
· Driving license
· Experience working with asylum seekers.
· Excellent verbal and written communication.
· Team worker
· IT literate (word, excel etc.)
· Strong work ethic including an organised approach to work with the ability to keep accurate records, flexibility to meet key objectives and willingness to comply with procedures and management requests and ability to keep calm when met with challenging situations.
Ideal candidates will also:
· Have experience working with young people aged between 16 & 18.
· Experience of working within a supported living environment or residential environment.
· An understanding of relevant legislation relating to the care of young people.
· Experience of working in partnership with Local Authorities and Health/Social Care professionals.
· Qualifications or Training: NVQ Level L3 – Health & Social Care/Children & Young People’s Workforce (desirable)NVQ Level L2 – Health & Social Care/Children & Young People’s Workforce (desirable)

· Shifts: Morning (9am to 5pm), Evening (5pm to 9pm) and Night shift (9pm to 9am next day: includes sleep- in at work)
