This role matters to world connectivity and BT group maintaining a connected network. BT Subsea is responsible for Subsea and network connections around the globe that BT own or have interests in. 97% of internet traffic leaves the UK on a Subsea cable.
This role can be based in Goonhilly or Bude and will be on-site
Role Duties:
This Subsea role will be to maintain the diverse range of transmission plant & services located within the Cable Landing Station (CLS). Gaining the relevant training and experience to lead in fault rectification activities at the CLS and ensure the prompt and efficient restoration of customer traffic as per BT procedures and guidelines. Also lead and act as the Terminal Power Safety Officer for Subsea systems. To make safe and issue permits to work as required.
To operate and maintain the diverse range of transmission plant & services located within the Cable Landing Station (CLS) ensuring that the high capacity, high revenue routes being carried are of the highest quality.
To attend, support and give advice to BT engineering teams in their roles at other UK and European cable landing stations in the maintenance of subsea cables systems.
Mandatory:
  • Ability to make effective decisions whilst working in complex and conflicting situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
  • Fibre testing and knowledge
  • Traveling for training
  • Being on a call out rota
  • Available for travel when on call

Skills Required for the Role
Mandatory:
Driving licence.
Ability to travel.
Valid Passport.
Fibre testing.
Computer competent (Microsoft).
Problem solver.
Working alone


Preferred:
Power AC/DC knowledge or qualifications.
Internet Protocol knowledge.
Electrical testing.
History in fibre splicing.
Openreach network knowledge.
