A wonderful special education primary school in Sutton Coldfield is looking for temporary, full-time SEN Teaching Assistants to join their highly skilled and enthusiastic staff to support the children aged 3-11 years to develop independence, communication and social skills. All the pupils hold Education, Health & Care Plans and the range of needs include autistic spectrum condition and learning difficulties. Experience of Makaton, PECs and Team-Teach is preferable, but not essential.

Job Description

• The successful SEN Teaching Assistants will:
• Have a passion and commitment to supporting children who have SEN
• Be confident in building effective relationships with pupils on a 1:1 basis
• Encourage pupils to interact with others
• Support teachers with planning, preparation and carrying out of inspiring activities
• Have strong behaviour management skills
• Be flexible, dynamic and compassionate, with excellent interpersonal skills
• Encourage independence, helping the children with transition around school and personal care

Requirements

• The successful SEN Teaching Assistants must:
• Have a minimum of NVQ level 3 or the equivalent in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
• Have experience and knowledge of working with pupils with autism and SEN
• Have previous experience of working in a SEN school or a Resource Base
• Have a legal right to work in the UK
• Have/acquire an enhanced DBS and Overseas Police Clearances (if applicable)
• Provide 2 professional childcare & education references covering the last 2 years
• Shortlisted candidates will be subject to Teacher Regulation Agency checks and an online search as part of Ambassadors Resourcing Safer Recruitment checks
