Join our Countryside Ranger and Warden team based at Hayfield in the North-West area of Derbyshire.
As Ranger you will be working in the beautiful High Peak area of Derbyshire, with a warden as support you will manage day to day a portfolio of sites that include multi-user trails, and diverse countryside sites. The role will support other countryside staff in the County with travel to the South and North-East Derbyshire to work on other countryside sites, multi-user trails and SSSI’s.
The role will supervise one countryside warden on a day to day basis, in the NW and one Warden in the South of the County, whilst supporting the supervision of other wardens in the NE team alongside two other Rangers.
Duties will include habitat management, community engagement, working with volunteers, and assisting Service Managers in strategic work planning and delivering service objectives.

We are seeking a hard-working team player who can work across the countryside service and make a difference for people and nature.
This post will involve working some weekends.
What skills/experience do you need?
- Proven countryside management, wildlife and heritage conservation experience.
- Skills in landscape, habitat, & water bodies management
- Experience of trail/path maintenance &access improvements
- Experience of leading on the organisation and delivery of events and activities in countryside/park environment
- Be confident using Information Technology (IT)
- Have an awareness of and interest in current environmental issues affecting the countryside.

Saturday and Sunday hours will be paid at plain time where it is part of your normal working pattern unless it is between 7pm and 7am, where enhanced rates of pay apply. Enhanced pay rates are paid for Bank Holiday working.
