Life is Good in Scotland (Refugee/migrant Project)
Project profile: The project aims to support immigrant integration, assist migrants to adapt to the new society and provide education and training for everyday life. We want to use innovative and practical approaches to learning English as a second language, develop skills and knowledge for life in Scotland.
The objectives include, integration, social inclusion of migrants and refugees, as marginalized groups, including English language competences, Cultural competences, and increased access to public services.
Team
The project team consists of Project Coordinator, Project Assistant, and volunteers.
Location
This work will be office based in Edinburgh with travel around Edinburgh and Livingston may be required.
Job Description
The main duties of the post will be to:
1. Ensure the project outcomes are met.
2. Coordinate project activities: i. LiGiS sessions/activities twice a week, am/pm or both. ii. Organise workshops and get speakers on various topics including the council, NHS, schools, further education, Police, employment, banking, energy, heritage, skills development, driving, leisure, volunteering etc iii. Arrange one informal English class each week iv. Organise heritage site visits/trips once a month v. Organise monthly informal activity vi. Create a one-minute vii. video of the project
3. Recruit, train, support and supervise volunteers.
4. Monitor and evaluate team performance.
5. Manage and form partnerships with community organisations and expand contacts to new groups to increase engagement with target communities.
6. Promote activities by email, social media, newsletter, and other channels.
7. Organise and attend training, meetings, and conferences relevant to the outcomes of the project.
8. Manage and spend budget according to the project plan.
9. Monitor project progress, collect feedback and evidence. Compile report to funders using their templates and final report.
10. Manage, train, and supervise the project assistant.
11. Any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
