Job description
- Review and interpret customer specifications. Identify risks in meeting customer requirements.
- Manage products specifications, process documentation, and costing in ERP and MES systems.
- Identify, validate and implement process improvements that optimize production efficiencies, improve product quality, reduce wastes, and promotes safer working conditions.
- Responsible for the specification, sourcing, qualification and implementation of new tooling and equipment.
- Cost products to support quotation of new business and cost audits of existing products.
- Investigate and resolve production variances to support accurate costing and inventory management.
- Troubleshoot process issues to resolve variances to internal or external quality requirements, costs or throughput targets.
- Develop capacity models for production work cells. Identify and mitigate constraints to meeting production targets.
- Develop work instructions and train operators to achieve production and quality standards.
- Utilize CAD to communicate requirements for parts, tooling and equipment.
- Bachelor’s of Science degree in Plastics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field.
- 2+ years’ experience in a thermoplastics manufacturing environment desired.
- Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques preferred; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification a plus.
- Strong problem solving, facilitation and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Works well in a team environment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
