Hexcel is currently seeking a Process Engineer—Thermoplastics for our Amesbury, MA, USA location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Review and interpret customer specifications. Identify risks in meeting customer requirements.
Manage products specifications, process documentation, and costing in ERP and MES systems.
Identify, validate and implement process improvements that optimize production efficiencies, improve product quality, reduce wastes, and promotes safer working conditions.
Responsible for the specification, sourcing, qualification and implementation of new tooling and equipment.
Cost products to support quotation of new business and cost audits of existing products.
Investigate and resolve production variances to support accurate costing and inventory management.
Troubleshoot process issues to resolve variances to internal or external quality requirements, costs or throughput targets.
Develop capacity models for production work cells. Identify and mitigate constraints to meeting production targets.
Develop work instructions and train operators to achieve production and quality standards.
Utilize CAD to communicate requirements for parts, tooling and equipment.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s of Science degree in Plastics, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Manufacturing Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related field.
2+ years’ experience in a thermoplastics manufacturing environment desired.
Strong computer proficiency including Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other Continuous Improvement techniques preferred; Lean and/or Six Sigma certification a plus.
Strong problem solving, facilitation and communication skills (verbal and written).
Works well in a team environment.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance.
