The Portering Department at Walsall Manor Hospital is currently looking to recruit enthusiastic persons to join our Portering team who provide and maintain a professional, efficient, effective and timely service to patients, visitors and departments.Experience in this type of role is beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given. We provide a 24 hours a day 365 days per year service which includes weekends and bank holidays.A flexible approach to work, smart appearance, good communication skills and a high standard of customer care is required.
To provide a caring and efficient general portering service for the benefit of patients, staff and the public on the hospital site as well as to ensure the safe transportation of all goods and equipment.
Ensure you utilise the MYPorter (electronic task management) system appropriately.
Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust is an integrated Trust and the only provider of NHS acute care in Walsall, serving a population of 286,700, providing inpatient and outpatient services at the Manor Hospital as well as a wide range of services in the community. Walsall Manor houses the full range of district general hospital services under one roof. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and the continued upgrading of existing areas ensures the Trust now has a state-of-the-art Critical Care Unit, Neonatal Unit, Obstetric Theatre, and Integrated Assessment Unit facilities. Work is also well underway on its multi-million pound new Urgent and Emergency Care Centre which will house a new Emergency Department (including Children’s Emergency Department), co-located Paediatric Assessment Unit, Acute Medical Unit and Urgent Care Centre. This is scheduled for completion this year.

To ensure that patients who have appointments arrive in the department 5
minutes before their allotted time and that all patients must be transported in a safe and efficient manner and are returned to their wards or departments as quickly and safely as possible.
To assist in moving/lifting patients to wheelchairs and trolleys within wards/
departments as and when required.
