Job Description - Part-Time Paralegal
Reporting to Legal & Business Affairs Manager
Salary £20,000 PA (pro-rata to fixed term)
This is a fixed-term contract for 6 months, on a part-time basis of 20 hours per week
Job Summary
KOKO is currently seeking a Part-Time Paralegal to join us for a 6-month term in support of the development and continued growth of our business. In the role, you will undertake a varied and richly diverse role, drafting and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts and assisting with IP and compliance issues.
The position involves problem solving, managing a varied work stream and exercising lateral thinking to enable the business to compete in the fast-evolving entertainment and hospitality space. With the guidance of our Legal & Business Affairs Manager, you will be working towards stakeholders of the Executive Team and department directors, as well as external legal partners, to provide valuable legal guidance and support for the business.
The position is offered on a fixed term basis, but will be considered with the opportunity for career development to a senior role. The role will be based at our KOKO Head Quarters, but we promote a healthy work-life balance and provides flexibility in working hours and hybrid work options.

Role & Responsibilities.
● Drafting a variety of commercial and copyright agreements including: talent and performance, venue hire and events, business procurement, content creation, distribution and exploitation, filming and production, location clearances and releases, sponsorship and brand partnership, ticketing, consultancy, SaaS, NDAs
● Reviewing and summarising of contracts, agreements and correspondence
● Negotiating, amending and redlining multiple contract drafts and versions
● Liaising and answering contractual queries with other teams within the group, including: music, finance,- HR, venue, hospitality, membership, marketing and sales teams to ensure correct information flow
● Contract management and updating relevant internal systems, trackers, databases
● Diarising and issuing reminders to management with respect to key contractual dates
● Co-ordinating physical and e-signatures on behalf of the business, eFiling, retrieval and archiving documents
● Instructing and liaising with external legal partners on commercial, IP, employment, property, litigation, and charity matters
● Handling legal and business affairs related compliance issues across a variety of sectors
● Liaising with the finance department regarding payment schedules and managing the payment of invoices.
About you.
We are seeking a candidate with 1-3 years previous experience as a Paralegal or contract officer role in the entertainment or hospitality industry, with the following key attributes:
● Working knowledge of legal operations, live music, events management, digital media or copyright
● Exposure to in-house, law firm or ALSP office environments and CILEx/GDL/LPC/SQE qualification is desirable
● Excellent commercial contract drafting and negotiation skills
● Great communication and collaboration skills
● Ability to spot and advise on legal implications that affect wider business objectives and goals
● Proactive and solutions driven, with the ability to take ownership of workflows autonomously
● Meticulous attention to detail and superb administration skills
● Persistent and patient while working in high-pressure situations, with the ability to juggle shifting priorities
● Excellent IT skills and a confident ‘can-do’ attitude
