We are looking for inquisitive, passionate, and disruptive thinkers to join us in the creation and development of more innovative and sustainable packaging which will shape the way people buy, consume, and recycle, all over the world.
JOB PURPOSE
You will be involved in the design, technical development and scale-up of packaging solutions balancing the consumer and brand experience with business and sustainability demands. Working on global brands such as Persil, Skip, Comfort, you will be part of a diverse and interconnected dynamic global team working with Brand, Supply Chain, Procurement, and other R&D functions.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the technical development of packaging solutions from brief definition through to proving manufacture at scale.
- Identify and translate consumer insights, technical requirements, and business needs into packaging solutions
- Lead and manage the relationship with packaging convertors and material suppliers in the development of packaging components and solutions
- Lead the creation, testing and validation plans for technical specifications of packaging components and solutions
- Lead Identification of new technologies and assess feasibility & implementation of ideas that enable new products & experiences for our consumers.
- Project management & packaging knowledge to open new opportunities for cost, quality and speed with an application of risk assessment and mitigation
ALL ABOUT YOU
We are looking for people with an ambitious mindset and excellent competencies. Experience working in packaging development roles, including backgrounds in industrial product design, or engineering.
- Technical education – in an engineering, design, or science subject, with relevant experience leading packaging development projects or technical innovations.
- Experienced in packaging processes across plastic components, paper and board. Plus, novel product formats such as capsules & plastic alternatives, is preferred but not essential.
- A creative, logical, and analytical mind to generate innovative solutions to technical packaging design problems.
- An excellent influencer and communicator in a collaborative environment
- Enthusiasm to learn and support in the development of others to develop new skills e.g. data and digital tools.
- Passion for what packaging, innovation and consumer experience can unlock for our brands, business, and planet.
- Experienced in working as part of multi-disciplined teams.

Recruitment Fraud
Cyber criminals advertise fake job adverts with prestigious employers as a way of stealing information or even defrauding individuals out of money. In the most sophisticated cases, they will set up fake websites, which have a similar address to companies like Unilever. They even conduct fake telephone interviews and then offer candidates a role with the proviso they pay a fee for background checks or to cover work visa costs. These types of attacks are becoming more common as more people are looking for employment in the economic climate.
How is Unilever tackling this?
Many of Unilever’s recruitment sites publish a warning to candidates about recruitment fraud. The Cyber Security team also proactively scan for signs of people setting up fake Unilever sites and act to close them down.
What can I do?
