Description
Lynchpin Media is a global media house that publishes monthly technology magazines, interactive digital reports and insights on various digital platforms across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, South and North America. The company is seen as a leading publisher of industry news and intelligence content for IT professionals.
We’re looking for an aspiring graphic designer who is looking to take their first steps into the publishing industry. We want to hear from motivated individuals who are passionate about graphic design. You will be working as part of a team with other designers, the editorial team, account executives, web developers and marketing specialists, so the ability to communicate well is essential.
Responsibilities include a raft of duties, the core of which include:
- Layout and design of your own monthly press/digital magazines following an established workflow, using text and images supplied by the editorial team (and sourcing additional images yourself if required). This is a technical layout and production role that requires the ability to maintain focus and high standards.
- Design and creation of various ad hoc marketing materials, including in-house adverts, media kits, flyers, logos, brochures and exhibition stands to name but a few.
- Design and creation of interactive digital reports that require imaginative designs that are visually appealing yet remain on-brand.
- Editing/retouching imagery.
- Reporting initially to the Director, Design and Production and then to the Graphic and Digital Design Manager, you will be eager to learn and use feedback from other designers to improve your skills and abilities.
- Skills needed for the role:
- It’s essential to have a basic knowledge, or experience, of using a variety of publishing software, including InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop. Knowledge of other software, such as Animate and/or Premiere Pro, would be a plus.
- Familiarity with MS Office and Google applications such as Docs, Sheets and One Drive
- Ability to manage your own workload and work to tight deadlines.
- Highly organised with the flexibility to adapt when job priorities change.
- Attention to detail, as you will need to scan text for typographical errors.
- An interest in technology and/or business development would be advantageous.
- Punctual and reliable, with excellent time management skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Enthusiastic and keen to develop skills, and willingness to embrace change.
- Ability to think independently and work within a team.
- Creative and the ability to use your own initiative.
- Eager to take on new challenges.
You need to have a GCSE in Maths and English Grade 4/C or above.
