We are looking for Theatre Practitioners to join the Theatres at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Trust FT. As a University Trust, you will have the chance to grow, develop and to be the best that you can be.
We have flexible bank shifts and long-term placement opportunities for HCPC registered practitioners. The post holder will bring the ability to work as part of a clinical team to prepare operation theatres, support with surgeries and assist across the theatres and hospital alongside team members to meet the needs of the service.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participate as an integral member of the theatre, covering a full range of flexible shifts
- Provides skilled assistance in one or more core areas - scrub, anaesthetics and recovery duties to the level of core competencies
- Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure
- Recognise and value the importance of a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and to coordinate the care delivery
- Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres
- Prepare and organise clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency and trauma procedures. To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list
- Provide skilled assistance to the surgeon/anaesthetist in a variety of clinical situations including elective, emergency and trauma work
- Work within the guidelines of NMC/HPC registration
- Responsible for adhering to the NMC / ODP professional Code of Conduct
- The post holder is responsible and accountable for their own practice in line with Trust Infection
- Prevention and Control policies that reflect evidence, best practice and legislative requirements
Must have Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum of 1-year paid experience as a Theatre Practitioner / Operating Department Practitioner in a hospital environment within the last 2 years
- HCPC or equivalent registration as a Theatre Practitioner / Operating Department Practitioner
- Registered Nurse with current NMC registration (Level 1) or qualified Operating Theatre Practitioner with HCPC registration
- Previous Theatre experience at Band 5
- Demonstrate awareness of NHS
