About the mobile library service
We operate two mobile library vehicles and visit 155 rural locations across Cornwall as well as a number of micro libraries. The mobile libraries are equipped with access to wifi, a wheelchair ramp and space for learning and information sessions.
We work with partners and local groups to build strong and cohesive communities.
The Mobile and Micro Library service will be undergoing a service review in order to maximise potential to reach rural and isolated communities.

About the Role
Your role will include driving a 7.5 tonne Mobile Library vehicle around Cornwall and delivering a library service to people who may be rurally or/and socially isolated. You will be working as part of Cornwall’s wider Library service, managing library stock, helping to organise events and working in partnership with other libraries and services to deliver targeted support in line with community need.
You will work as part of a small team who are responsible for the day to day running of the mobile library service, so an ability to work flexibly and on your own initiative is essential. The team work closely with the wider Library Service and Education Library Service and support each other to deliver services to customers. You will have an enthusiasm for promoting the benefits of reading for pleasure and wellbeing.
You will need computer skills that enable you to use our Library Management System (training will be given for this), Outlook and Excel, and have confidence to promote and assist customers to get online.
The role can be physically demanding due to lifting and shifting of books and being on your feet for long periods of time.
The current working pattern is Monday to Friday with some weekends/evenings for events. However, the working pattern is subject to change.
You will hold a current driving licence that covers the requirements to drive 7½ ton vehicle or have the confidence and ability to take the test that will cover the requirement to drive a 7½ ton vehicle within two months of appointment.
