Medical Assistant
North Shore Vascular Surgery is seeking to hire a medical assistant for our practice. We are devoted to providing each and every patient with comprehensive and compassionate care. Candidate must have the ability to work as part of a small team, multitask and be detail-oriented.
Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:
- Greet and guide patients to exam rooms
- Coordinate with the team to maintain timely flow of patients
- Obtain and record patients’ medical history in our EMR system
- Assist clinical staff with patient examinations and vascular testing
- Help patients prepare for the examination and/or procedure
- Clean exam rooms
- Maintain clinical rooms by assuring it is clean, neat and stocked with adequate supplies
- Assist patient check in/out, responding to patient requests, patient education, front desk responsibilities
- Clean and prepare the operating rooms for procedures
- Ensure that all procedure equipment is tested and sterilized as needed
- Assist surgeon and RN during procedures as needed -- with tasks such as handing wires, catheters, syringes, surgical instruments, move and position C-Arm, etc.
- Assist with dressing the patient’s procedural sites and in the placement of ace bandages
- Clean operating rooms and recovery rooms post procedure
- Clean and sterilize surgical instruments
- Adhere to all infection control, universal precautions, and safety policies
- Utilize appropriate customer service skills during interactions with patients, physicians’ visitors and staff
- Maintain inventory, logbooks and required checklists
- Provide feedback and answers to patient calls as appropriate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant (MA) training program preferred, not required
- BLS certification required within three months of employment
Position requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting heavy objects. Employee will occasionally be asked to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds. Involves standing and walking. Employee will be considered an "expose" employee according to OSHA standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $22.00 per hour
