Materials Coordinator
Location: Birmingham
Salary: Up to 26,000 per annum - depending on experience
About the facility:
The Harborne Hospital - part of HCA Healthcare UK is a brand new 100million, purpose built 50 bed, multi-speciality private hospital opening in Birmingham in 2023. Located on the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham campus, the hospital will have the deep clinical infrastructure, equipment and facilities and expert, experienced teams to deliver full clinical pathways across a mix of specialties and sub-specialties at all levels of complexity including Cardiology, Cancer and Complex Surgery.
The Harborne Hospital is part of HCA Healthcare UK - a group of seven private hospitals, four NHS partnerships, a research institute and network of outpatient and primary care centres in London and Manchester, that provide a depth, breadth and complexity of care on a scale unmatched in the independent sector.
The Harborne Hospital is the 4th NHS partnership within this network, partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Trust, as part of our HCA UK Joint Ventures.
About the role:
The Materials Coordinator will be responsible for providing an efficient and professional Material Management Service to the Harborne Hospital.
Duties and Responsibilities:
To maintain stocks at agreed levels, monitor and review regularly to reflect hospital activity level and keep within an agreed inventory stock holding value. Respond to urgent request for goods
Provide regular feedback to the Materials Manager of any irregular demand patterns, shortages etc
To generate orders stock and non-stock in a timely and accurate manner to maintain stock at agree levels
Co-ordinate the daily receipt and internal distribution of stock to wards and departments with staff.
Liaise with wards and departments to co-ordinate the return of goods to the supplier in respect of product recalls and routine returns for incorrect deliveries.
To work closely with ward/department staff and provide advice on appropriate storage conditions and materials management stock levels, including appropriate stock rotation and routine housekeeping
To be proactive in identifying alternative products for departments in line with HCA standard products
Assist with the implementation of Materials Management into new, wards/departments
Training of new staff in the department
Skills and experience
Previous experience in a stock control environment
Experience and understanding of Procurement and Management processes
Good understanding of Supply Chain processes including requisitioning, ordering, receipt and payments
Experience in clerical duties
