Job Title: MANUFACTURING TECHNICIAN / ENGINEER
About us: MicroLink Devices UK Ltd is an exciting, dynamic, new business specialising in the design, development, and manufacture of advanced solar arrays for spacecraft, aircraft, and terrestrial applications. Based on the manufacturing process first developed at its Chicago, US facility, MicroLink Devices UK Ltd is establishing a manufacturing facility in Newport, South Wales.
The company possesses a core competence in the manufacture and assembly of ultra lightweight, high efficiency epitaxial lift-off (ELO) inverted metamorphic
(IMM) solar cells which represent the highest specific power solar technology available. MicroLink Devices UK fills the increasing demand for high performance solar cells for unique applications requiring power generation while on the move.

Overview: To support the team in the sustainment and development of its state-of-the-art solar cell manufacturing process.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure deliverables are met in a timely manner, by working to test and assemble our aerospace solar products and deliver a world class finished product to our customers.
- Review and drive the status of cell assembly projects, support resolution of issues, provide technical assistance and take corrective / improvement action as required.
- Potential to develop into senior technician/engineer overseeing training of other team members.
- Assist in the identification of risks and implementation of our EHS policy.
- Develop and provide effective interfaces with colleagues and suppliers.
- Engage with the engineering team to identify and implement process improvements.
- Commissioning and maintenance of equipment.
- Assist the engineering team on technology transfers from MLDUS to MLDUK.
- Support R&D with the Engineering team.

Skills/Experience/Attributes:
- Ability to perform micro assembly of cells with precision and attention to detail, ideally you will be able to demonstrate previous experience of this skill or at minimum an aptitude.
- Demonstrate previous use of microscopes. Previous micro gap welding / soldering experience will be advantageous.
- Be a team player and willing to rotate tasks as required to support the operation.
- Be able to manage timelines and deadlines effectively.
- Fluent in English (verbal & written)
- Strong IT skills
- Experience of working in mass manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Willing to work shift patterns if necessary.
- ISO9001 awareness is desirable.
Qualifications required:
Minimum HNC in STEM discipline.
