Are you a Band 7 Occupational Therapist or an experienced Band 6 Occupational Therapist with knowledge and skills in neuro-rehabilitation?
An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint a Highly Specialist Occupational Therapist within the Occupational therapy team on the RHRU. We are looking for an enthusiastic colleague wanting to consolidate skills in the management of complex neurological conditions within a supportive and dynamic multi-disciplinary team.
The RHRU is a level 1a, Tertiary Rehabilitation service which caters for adults with severe complex neurological disability. It has 24 beds and operates over a supra-regional area with a population in excess of 5 million. It is a highly specialised service with a strong focus on patient centred care and a goal setting approach and is nationally recognised as a centre for research.
You will need prior experience of working in an acute / post-acute / neuro-rehabilitation setting and be competent in using a variety of physical and cognitive assessment and treatment approaches. You will also need experience in supervising Junior Therapists. Further competence in complex seating and spasticity management is desirable, as is experience of working with patients in a prolonged disorder of consciousness (PDOC). You will act as a keyworker to patients and their relatives requiring skills in diplomacy, negotiation and problem solving. The RHRU occupational therapy team is dedicated to providing regular in-service training, CPD through regular supervision and support and opportunities for internal and external training.
