About the Role
The Head of Open Research Services provides leadership and management of Library and Learning Services contribution to academic research. This is a strategically important role to enhance the University’s research environment, developing and managing relationships, managing the University’s publication and research data repositories, provide expert advice and guidance on scholarly communications, the curation and visibility of research outputs and Research Data Management (RDM).
The role provides specialist knowledge to influence decisions and develop and design research support services. You will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to develop and maintain excellent working relationships with a wide range of colleagues from across the University, as well as excellent knowledge of the wider UK research environment, including current policy and developments around open research.

About You
As Head of Open Research Services, you will:
- Have experience working within Higher Education, with knowledge of, and experience of open research and open access.
- Be flexible and creative with excellent communication, influencing and negotiation skills.
- Provide specialist knowledge to influence decisions and develop and design research support services.
- Act as an advocate for Library and Learning Services, providing a clear- and forward-thinking approach for moving from a compliance culture to an open research culture.
- Lead on the development of research collections and systems within Library and Learning Services.
