34.00 hours per week, permanent role

The post holder will:
Support the Technical Accountant in ensuring the statutory Annual Accounts are accurate, completed to a high professional standard and are submitted in accordance with Department of Health (DOH) timescales.
Produce accurate Financial Information on a monthly basis in accordance with Trust timescales.
Have responsibility for supporting a comprehensive capital accounting service to the Trust that ensures capital acquisitions are planned and the capital programme is monitored and reviewed to ensure effective use of capital resources.
Liaise directly with budget holders and project managers to give advice and monitor project developments.
Ensures that an asset register is maintained for all fixed assets and that the Trusts’ general ledger accurately reflects the position of its fixed asset / capital programme and the related capital charges.
Support the other activities within the Technical Accounting team.

The successful candidate will be CCAB qualified or part-qualified with equivalent knowledge and experience to professional accountancy qualification level.
The postholder will have extensive financial accounting experience and experience of a financial year-end exercise, with fixed asset accounting. The postholder must have substantial experience in the use of computerised finance systems and associated feeder modules together with knowledge of HMRC VAT regulations and recent experience in control account reconciliation and financial reporting. The postholder will have advanced keyboard skills and be able to communicate effectively both formally and informally in writing, and verbally. The postholder will have the ability to interpret national NHS guidelines/directives and have specialist knowledge of the NHS financial regime, policies and procedures. The postholder will have a flexible approach, be able to work on their own initiative as well as part of the team.
The role will be based in the Wayside House office, but home working will be the majority proportion of the position. The 34 hours will be spread across the working week, Monday to Friday, but there can be some flexibility about the phasing of the hours within those 5 days.
