Job description

A career opportunity has arisen for a Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Team at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

The Finance Department has accredited employer status with all of the main accountancy bodies and is currently undertaking an ambitious continuous improvement programme focussed on improving People, Process and Systems. The King’s finance vision is ‘To be stellar finance partners, supporting world class patient care’.

What we are looking for:
Effective finance business partners are the ones who make the connections between people, groups and issues. They have the courage to speak up, to challenge, to hold up the mirror to the business and ask questions. They will be sitting in the middle of the decision making table offering a financial angle as well as insight to help drive better outcomes for patients.

Candidates from either the private sector or wider public sector organisations are strongly encouraged to apply. NHS experience is beneficial but not essential for the Finance Business Partner roles. We are looking for people who are motivated, ambitious and want to work in an environment where they can make an impact.

The Finance Business Partner will take responsibility for providing highly complex and operational focused support. They will have the ability to optimise the use of data from multiple sources and triangulate it into digestible and actionable formats.

They must be customer focused, with the ability to constructively challenge and create positive and effective working relationships.

The post holder will be involved in guiding the finance team in ensuring a comprehensive and efficient finance service is provided to divisional managers, senior managers, budget holders and external stakeholders.

The position will support the divisions on identification of productivity and efficiency opportunities, by using financial, analytical and project management skills, to ensure divisional targets are delivered on time.

The position will require forensic accounting methods to analyse complex business opportunities for the divisions. Business decisions will require a clear understanding of the principles supporting the NHSI risk rating regime as well as the impact on the Trusts Income and Expenditure.

The post holder must have a recognised CCAB or equivalent qualification, and have significant experience in finance and be fully committed to Continuous Professional Development.

The ideal applicant will have a background in operational or business finance. Whilst an NHS background would be helpful, we are also open to recruiting from the private sector.
