Your new role
Southend City Council are looking to appoint 4 full time, experienced Family Support Workers in a temporary capacity for 6 months, to work alongside the Child Protection Service.
Within this position, hybrid working opportunities are available, however a flexible approach is needed as you will be required to be on site and to travel around the city, visiting families.
You will be expected to provide professional and comprehensive casework to children and their families who have been identified as Children in Need (Sect.17 Children Act 1989).
Case loads are expected to be a maximum of 18 children, whereby, you will ensure that the needs of the children and their parents/carers are supported inline with their assessed needs.
You will be fully supported in your role by way of formal supervision on a minimum monthly basis, alongside any additional support required if needed.

What you'll need to succeed
You need to have previous experience of working with children, however not necessarily within a children’s social care environment.
Ideally, experience of direct involvement with children and that of managing competing priorities as a case holder.
This position would suit, retired social workers, health visitors, teachers, probation or police officer.
Knowledge of child protection, looked after children and children in need would be beneficial to the post.
