The role
The End User Compute Engineer participates in all desktop services to ETEL business areas as well as the successful delivery of new applications to the core infrastructure team.
The End User Compute Engineer will require excellent technical skills, coupled with a focus on driving Continual Service Improvement and customer satisfaction. Relationships with other IT team members is critical to ensure the desktop service delivery and project handover.
The End User Compute Engineer must have strong experience of desktop troubleshooting and problem solving. Depending on projects and tasks, the individual will be required to be available for queries during and out of office hours. In addition, as part of this role, the individual will be expected to deal with any system issues as and when they occur.
This permanent role is based upon 40hrs/week, operating on a hybrid basis to likely include time spent at our central office location, with occasional travel to other sites across the UK.
Key accountabilities
- Active participation in the creation of desktop standard images and deployment
- Management of desktop antivirus tools and application
- Management of desktop application deployment, patching and Software Asset Management tools.
- Demonstrating the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex issues
- Planning and recommending enhancements to ensure that desktop management tool capacity meets current and future business requirements in a cost effective manner
- Participation in core infrastructure projects to meet pre-defined objectives Key duties and responsibilities
- Proactively look to improve and add efficiency to current process and exercise judgment in the decision-making process to provide excellent customer experience.
- Ensure all solutions are documented and successfully transitioned into service.
- Contribute to knowledge tools and communities, and ensure learnings are shared for reuse.
- Maintain relationships with key suppliers to ensure continually high levels of service.

- Develop and implement automation to streamline and improve quality of the IT infrastructure build processes
- Maintain patch levels across Windows desktop and server estate
- Installation, configuration, backup & recovery of desktop deployment tools
- Installation, configuration, backup & recovery of patch deployment tools
- Installation, configuration, backup & recovery of antivirus tools
- Installation, configuration, backup & recovery of desktop remote control tools
- Monitoring of trends in data growth & performance and proposing strategies to accommodate/redress.
- Management report creation from EUC applications and tools.
- Maintain positive working relationships with colleagues and Customers by treating people with dignity and respect.
- Understand and adhere to the Company’s policies and procedures
- Undertake the necessary training and skills development
- Ensure that all works carried out are conducted in accordance with the Companies procedures
