Serco are proud to support the IMOS (Integrated Merlin Operational Support) at Royal Navy Air Station Culdrose, that delivers services ranging from the repair and maintenance of Military aircraft- and off aircraft support services. Culdrose is one of the Navy`s two principal air bases, and one of the busiest military airfields in the UK. We have an exciting opportunity for a Refuel Driver to be based at our site at RNAS Culdrose based in Helston, Cornwall. This role is required to support operational deliverables and interfaces in a highly regulated environment.
Main Accountabilities:
Drive/operate specialist refuelling vehicles.- Operation and inspection of Bulk Fuel Installations (BFI).
- Maintenance of helicopter inflight refuelling hoses (HIFR).
- Provide a fuel booking service for all aircraft operating from RNAS Culdrodse.
- Maintaining currencies and training iaw extant regulations and policies associated with driving, operating, or servicing of specific fuel vehicles, installations and equipment as required by the contract and their role.
- Ensure the Serco Engineering Manager is made aware of all business risk.
- Ensuring best practice and assurance of regulatory compliance by the reporting and communication of engineering, safety and near miss events.
- Monitoring hazards and ensuring risks, and issues are identified and quantified to their Supervisor, Senior Supervisor or Serco Engineering Manager.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives and associated programmes when required.
What you’ll need to do the role:
Attained requisite vocational driving qualifications pertinent to operating refuel vehicles operated on site at RNAS Culdrose.- Have the ability to complete a training logbook and hold a fuel practitioner’s logbook
- Have the ability or to have completed a Maintenance Human Factors Course.
- A capability to work productively, efficiently & effectively with initiative and drive under tight timescales and pressure whilst maintaining operational outputs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of:
- Military (aviation) procedures for operating on an airfield.
- Airworthiness Safety and Compliance iaw Regulatory and Legislative requirements (MAA).
- Previous experience and a good working knowledge of the following:
- Be fully conversant with fuel quality assurance, testing and fuel contamination checks
- Be computer literate and be able to access such systems to maintain essential records.
- Health and Safety, the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) Regulations, Tool Control and Quality Practices.
- An understanding of Engineering and Asset Management Systems.
