Education required: To apply for this placement, you must be:
Currently studying an any Undergraduate Degree preferably in mathematics / statistics, computer science or a science/ technology related discipline.
Other requirements: You will have completed a minimum of 2 years of your undergraduate degree but will not have graduated at the start of your placement. You must be enrolled at a UK (United Kingdom) or ROI (Republic of Ireland) university for the duration of your placement.
If you have already graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree and are currently studying a postgraduate Masters, you are not eligible for this programme.
Language requirement: Written and spoken fluency in English
Expected Start date: September 2024
Duration: 1 year (approximately)
Salary: A salary of £21,400 plus a bonus (Stevenage), or a salary of £23,400 plus a bonus (GSK House)

Data Science Programmer/Analyst
As a Data Science Programmer/Analyst at GSK, you will play a critical role in supporting our clinical research teams by providing programming expertise and support. Under the guidance of experienced professionals within the Biostatistics department, you will gain valuable experience in programming tasks associated with clinical trial reporting. With hands-on training, you will become proficient in programming languages such as SAS and R and will use these to analyse and report clinical trial data.
This placement year will provide you with exposure to industry-standard tools, methodologies, and regulatory requirements while contributing to the advancement of life-changing therapies. You will gain an insight into cutting-edge clinical research and the development processes, with the opportunity to learn from and network with experienced professionals within GSK.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with statisticians and fellow professional programmers to develop datasets, tables, listings and figures to aid clinical trial reporting
Participate in the development of programs for clinical trial reporting using SAS and R programming languages
Develop an understanding of CDISC data standards, particularly adhering to ADaM dataset standards
Conduct quality control checks on clinical trial data, identifying and resolving discrepancies or issues
Assist in the preparation of documentation, including dataset specifications.

Professional and interpersonal development through on-the-job and online training modules, contributing to future career growth
Opportunity to support our Business Excellence and Analytics Team, by developing and maintaining tools that lead to key decisions and enable GSK compliance and accelerate pipeline delivery.
