Clinical Psychologist Band 7/8a/ 7-8a Preceptorship Post within the Specialist Memory Service in Milton Keynes

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Psychologist to join our growing team at the MSNAP accredited Specialist Memory Service (SMS) in Milton Keynes. SMS provides early identification, assessment, diagnosis and support to clients who have dementia and their carers/families. The main responsibilities of this post will be to hold a caseload of patients who have a diagnosis of dementia, undertake neuropsychological assessments and provide psychological support for families living with dementia.

We are looking for someone who is dynamic and motivated who can work autonomously and as part of the team to continue to provide and develop the existing service.

Milton Keynes Mental Health services are also exploring ways to make posts more attractive to applicants. We know Psychologists have many and varied interests and if you would like to pair a role in memory assessment with work elsewhere in the service then please do get in touch. We would be happy to discuss your interests, experience and future career plans. There are current vacancies and opportunities in the Mental Health Hub Therapies Pathway, Mental Health Hospital Liaison and Inpatient Services.

CNWL are committed to progressing and supporting their staff with career development and training, and ensuring staff health and wellbeing and job satisfaction. As an NHS Trust we strongly encourage and support vaccination as this remains the best way to protect yourself, your family, your colleagues and of course patients and service users when working on our healthcare settings

We are passionate about delivering first-class patient-centred, safe and effective care, whether it is in a hospital setting, in a community clinic or in the patients own home. Patients are at the heart of everything we do. Providing top quality care depends on our ability to employ the best people. Were always looking to recruit outstanding people who will go the extra mile to support our patients, colleagues, teams and the Trust. With every new employee were hoping to find our future leaders and well support our staff by providing opportunities to develop your career. With a diverse culture and equally diverse range of opportunities across mental health, community services, addictions, eating disorders, learning disabilities and more whatever stage of your career you're at, there's always a place for you at CNWL.

The post holder will mainly work within SMS but have the opportunity to maintain theirtherapeutic and general psychological skills by offering some sessions into the Community Mental Health Hub (CMHH) dependent on their interest and experience.

The Community Mental Health Hub in Milton Keynes is a newly formed amalgamation of a number of smaller teams brought together to offer a more accessible service to people with mental health problems. The service is needs-led, offering medical, social and psychological interventions to all on a stepped care model. Service users can access a range of psychological interventions from their keyworkers and other staff within the Hub, and are only referred for specialist therapy if and when they are ready and able to engage. Therapists work with people with complex mood problems, trauma and PTSD presentations, psychosis, and complex emotional needs. They deliver a range of evidence-based interventions as recommended by NICE Guidance, predominately MBT, DBT, CBT, CFT and EMDR within a Trauma Informed ethos.

The post holder will be required to complete home visits where indicated and may be required to travel to different sites within CNWL for meetings.
