Job Title: Group HSE Lead
Location: United Kingdom (Home Based)
Salary: £110,000 - £130,000
My client who is a market leading energy and utilities company based within the UK are actively seeking an experienced Group HSE Lead to join the team. This opportunity will be reporting directly to the Managing Director of the business and Head of Group. The suitable candidate will be responsible for establishing the direction and strategy of the health, safety, environment and security function throughout the business.
The main requiremnets for the role of Group HSE Lead include:
Experience in setting policy and process across a multi-site organisation;
Experience in undertaking H&S audits and inspections;
Experience dealing with enforcement officials;
NEBOSH Diploma/ Degree or MSC in Health & Safety;
Chartered membership of IOSH/ equivalent professional body desirable;
An excellent communicator at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders;
Have the ability to quickly develop credible relationships and networks, building rapport and demonstrating your excellent negotiating and influencing skills;
Excellent knowledge of H&S legislation and ability to put knowledge into practice in an operational context;
Detailed knowledge of H&S management systems;
The main responsibilities for the role of Group HSE Lead include:
A senior manager of managers of multiple, diverse teams of managers/professionals. Looks beyond existing methodologies and own discipline to define and resolve complex problems in areas critical to the achievement of business objectives.
Conducts studies and investigations to ensure compliance with government safety and health laws, standards and regulations, and industrial hygiene.
Expected to lead or significantly influence the development of strategy for the area of responsibility.
To help construct and co-ordinate a central HSE programme, covering not only training and education, but reporting, communications, monitoring of external developments and the creation of a centre of excellence to support the business units.
Responsible for leading the implementation of robust HSE governance on an enterprise-wide basis, setting the agenda and co-ordinating representation and involvement from across the group;
Provide practical advice to colleagues regarding H&S matters, support with practical service based H&S/Manual Lifting and Handling and Fire Safety training;
Work with BUs to ensure suitable and sufficient H&S checks are undertaken, results monitored and action taken as appropriate. Ensure a consistent approach to H&S across all environments/offices visiting premises as and when required;
With the Quality team support the analysis of H&S data, including but not limited to incidents and observations to establish trends with a view to improving H&S and reducing accidents and incidents;
