Estates Division is looking to recruit a Carpenter/Joiner/Machinist to provide technical skills to the Building Maintenance team in all duties connected with the repair and maintenance of buildings within the Universities.
As part of a Building Maintenance team you will carry out carpentry and joinery repairs and bespoke one off tasks as required. A proven record of working in workshops using woodworking machinery is essential as is holding a full clean driving licence. The job would suit someone with plenty of joinery workshop experience as well as using industry standard woodworking machinery including various saws, planner/thicknesser, spindle moulder, mortise and tenoning machines.
The ideal candidate will have a good education with an approved apprenticeship to City & Guilds standard or NVQ 3 equivalent. You should have excellent communication skills and an ability to use traditional joinery methods. This is an exciting opportunity to work in and around the Universities Estate repairing and maintaining the vast array of buildings.
