Surrey County Council
Full Time Reigate, England 36282 - 40146 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

Job Introduction

The starting salary for this position is £36,282 per annum for working 36 hours per week.

The role is hybrid, with the flexibility of working from home and a requirement to work from the Woodhatch office twice a week (with possible travel to schools across Surrey) Therefore, you will need to be willing and able to travel to offices and schools.

If you’re a keen HR professional who gets real job satisfaction from a truly varied workload and influencing positive change, you might just want to keep reading. We know that within some HR functions out there you may be a little restricted in your work- certainly not this one! This next career step would see you navigating a wide range of casework and projects whilst supporting the delivery of a new and highly innovative People Strategy to our circa 1000 staff.

Let us set the scene for you. This role sits within Surrey County Council’s Twelve15 service who when put simply are the champions of providing nutritious, high quality, tasty food to school children across Surrey’s 400 schools. The service has recently undergone a massive transformation so the role offers a fresh (just like our school meals!) and progressive environment with a fantastic team to work with.

Whilst casework will certainly be part of your to-do list, your day to day will see you proactively manage several competing priorities to support managers and employees across the service to be the best they can be. An example of this could be supporting and guiding line managers with any ER cases, recruitment and retention of staff, and helping both employees and managers understand and implement policies and procedures.

In the true spirit of the Twelve15 People Strategy, we see opportunities across all areas of our business for team members across the organisation. In creating such opportunity, this will enable individuals to flourish in refining their “mastery” of skills. We want staff members to be given opportunity to develop both from an individual perspective and in their contributions to the future of our business. We see our role as HR is to support, facilitate, innovate, and evaluate these objectives.

Who are we looking for?

To be considered for interview for this position your application will clearly evidence:

  • That you are CIPD qualified or equivalent and have had exposure to all the strands of HR
  • Your tenacity and creativity when considering pragmatic and compliant solutions to everyday problems.
  • Knowledge and experience in the key functional areas of HR.
  • Experience in supporting HR projects in line with organisational and people strategy, and how this evidences your ability to support the achievement of Twelve15’s objectives.
  • Experience of processing documentation and preparing reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, absences and turnover etc.).

What can we offer in return?

When you join the Twelve15 team, you will be entering an environment where it’s encouraged to try new things; we look for opportunities where we can evaluate and, if seen as the best option, implement something different. You will have exposure to projects across several strands of HR and will be supported in your development using the MAP (Mastery, Autonomy and Purpose) model, which we apply to everything we do.

With a Superstar initiative that recognises staff via nomination from their colleagues, opportunities to get involved with mini projects and theme days, and a regular internal e-newsletter showcasing the team’s fantastic work, Twelve15 is a supportive team who are committed to recognising achievements and encouraging staff development. Internal wellbeing champions and services are also available should you ever need some additional support.

At Surrey, our values and behaviours are just as important as our skills and abilities. They shape who we are as an organisation. Find out more about the values we follow.
