Group Change is a delivery function for the group’s businesses responsible for shaping and implementing; strategic investments, agile and small change, continuous improvement and internal consultancy.

About the role – what you will be doing in our team

You will report into a Delivery Manager, who will be your line manager and responsible for things like performance review meetings, 1-1s and development conversations. The role of Business Analyst is important to us. You will be responsible for:

  • Defining the business analysis approach, planning and estimating business analysis work, for the activities you are assigned to. Clearly communicate these to the appropriate stakeholders and keep the Project Manager updated on progress.
  • Building effective relationships with business and technical stakeholders in order to provide a business analysis service to programmes, projects and change initiatives. In addition, form longer term trusted partner relationship with the stakeholders you engage with.
  • Act as the connection between the business and the IT and Change teams, translating complex technical language into simple and meaningful messages that can be understood by all.
  • Identifying stakeholders needs through thorough investigation and elicitation ensuring they align to the strategic needs of the business area and organisation.
  • Challenge scope and spot scope creep that does not adhere to strategic needs or deliver business value.
  • Clearly articulate needs of the business in accurate requirements using the appropriate method for the programme, project or change initiative.
  • Able to explain how the requirements defined address real business problems or opportunities to project stakeholders.
  • Conducting requirements verification and validation activities including requirements walkthroughs, formal reviews, signoff and traceability.
  • Managing and maintaining requirements through the change lifecycle including attributing, traceability, reuse, storage and accessibility.
  • Conducting business process re-engineering activities including documenting As Is and To Be business processes through process mapping and design, using these to undertake gap analysis in conjunction with requirements definition.
  • Elicit, analyse and define the business data impacted by the change and represent it using appropriate data models, flows and glossaries in conjunction with requirements definition.
  • Running engaging workshops, large and small, formal and informal with the ability to embrace collaboration tools to enhance the workshop experience.
  • Investigate, challenge and make recommendations on the use of technology and process change to make improvements in efficiency, customer experience and consolidation/re-use of technology across the bank.
  • Evaluate potential solution options against the requirements captured, making recommendations based upon their alignment to business needs. Where applicable support the procurement process where a new solution is required.
  • Delivering a business analysis service for the full change lifecycle from idea generation through to business adoption. This includes supporting delivery phases past requirements in a validation and consultative role ensuring the change being delivered is in line with the requirements defined.
  • Adherence to Aldermore governance standards and apply best practice approaches to assigned tasks.

About You – what we need you to bring to our team and business

  • A self-starter who is proactive and self-motivated, someone who takes responsibility and pride in their work and focused on delivering to time and quality.
  • Not fazed by ambiguity, technical terminology or business areas/terminology not familiar with.
  • Has a comprehensive BA Toolkit with skills and techniques that can be applied appropriately in different situations.
  • A skilled BA with an understanding of the BA profession and the capabilities required for the role.
  • Well versed in both Agile and Waterfall delivery lifecycles, preferably having experience working in both, with the flexibility to move between the two.
  • Has an understanding of the concepts of project management methods such as PRINCE 2. Ideally having exposure to project governance and an understanding of the role a BA plays in delivery.
  • A creative thinker with the ability to lead an activity, proven track record and the ability of delivering change initiatives.
  • Is an excellent all-round confident communicator, can represent complex detailed information in various forms appropriate to the audience in understandable packages.
  • Can challenge effectively and act as a critical friend to the business.
  • Can apply effective listening skills to obtain thorough understanding of a situation and what is important to the business.
  • Be an integral member of a multi-disciplined programme/project/change team to deliver business critical change in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Can see the big picture and identify connections between business concepts changes and the specific area in context.
  • Able to process a vast amount of information, have fantastic attention to detail and be methodical.
  • Ideally possess a good blend of technical and business analysis approaches in order to work on both business and technical projects. Backed up with soft skills to influence and negotiate decisions from both a technical and business perspective.
  • Ideally experienced working in Financial Services with a full appreciation of regulatory compliance needs. A plus would be domain experience in one or several of the following areas; Mortgages, Asset Finance, Motor vehicle Finance, Invoice Finance, Savings, Treasury.
  • Experience or an appreciation of the lifecycles supporting the different domain areas including product set up, application processes, decisioning, in life account management and payment processes would be an added advantage.
  • An awareness of the technologies that sit behind the processes would be a bonus as would a general ability to converse on supporting technologies and approaches such as Cloud, Software as a Service, Infrastructure as a Service, Platform as a Service.
