Job Description: Job Title: Assistant Finance Manager Grade: M1 Reports to: Commercial Manager Business area: Digital & eFulfilment Location: Northampton Summary and purpose of position: An exciting opportunity to join the Wickes Finance Team, within the eFulfilment sector. This role will support the Commercial Manager and two Finance Managers within the Wickes Finance Team across all Warehousing and Transport operations and will also deputise during periods of absence and holiday. This is a varied and demanding role that will help support recently expanded Wickes operations and will be an ideal career development role towards a future Finance Manager role within Wincanton. Duties and responsibilities: Work alongside non-financial managers to ensure that costs are captured and allocated accurately along with understanding of key cost drivers, budget and flex mechanisms. Undertake nominal ledger tasks including processing journals, nominal ledger cross charges and period end reconciliations. Maintain cost models and operational trackers to capture, trend and report both operating costs and statistical information Assisting with weekly Ledger Account reconciliations aligned to the Management Accounts Developing and enhancing current P&L Reporting, Budget and Reconciliation models Management of Suppliers, Supplies and Services required to support the operation and maintaining control of the purchase ledger function Preparation of accurate and timely financial reporting and interpretation of the operations on a weekly and periodic basis. Supporting with Management Team with financial analysis. Assisting the Commercial and Finance Managers in delivering annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for both the Customer and Wincanton to timelines and standards. Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders. Reporting and monitoring of key performance indicators and non-financials to support service delivery and ual commitments. Assisting the Commercial and Finance Managers with balance sheet preparation including robust reconciliations to support balances. Working with the Operations and People Teams to ensure accurate payroll and time and attendance inputs. Completion of monthly payroll reconciliations. Raising Sales Invoices and supporting the central credit control team. Supporting the Commercial Manager with responsibilities across the wider Wickes business. Person specification Experience, skills and attributes: Part-Qualified and studying towards the AAT/CIMA/ACCA qualification. Logistics Industry experience preferred. Able to build relationships at all levels. Be proactive, inquisitive with a passion for challenging teams to drive performance. A keen eye for detail and financial controls. Be able to work under pressure whilst maintaining high standards. Must be flexible and respond positively and accurately to internal and external customer requests. Have excellent PC skills and be able to understand and harness IT and systems to benefit the operation. Has a 'can do' attitude, demonstrating drive, energy and a commitment.
