Job description
The School of Fine Art at Glasgow School of Art is seeking to appoint a Administrative Officer (0.5 FTE / 17.5 hours per week) to provide efficient administrative support for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and research activity across the School of Fine Art.
The successful candidate will provide administrative support to a range of staff and students with a diverse range of interests, requirements and needs and will be expected to undertake a wide range of administrative duties and responsibilities, including accurate, high volume data entry. You will act as the first point of contact for staff, students, and visitors, receiving and responding to queries and redirecting queries, as appropriate. You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills and be able to work with colleagues to ensure the effective delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes, as well as assisting with other activities that are essential for the delivery of excellent learning within the School, with a particular focus on supporting student experience, engagement and assessment activity.
You will also provide general administrative support, such as purchasing/procurement tasks, booking travel and accommodation and organising meetings and events.
Successful candidates will have a 'can do' attitude and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and producing accurate work to tight deadlines.
To be considered for this role, you will be educated to a minimum of Higher-Grade level, or equivalent, with previous experience in a similar environment. You will be IT literate, with experience of Microsoft Office packages, particularly Word, Outlook and Excel and you will have excellent numeracy and literacy skills. You will be able to work in a team environment, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to organise your own workload and use your own initiative within a busy office environment.
