Management Accountant
We are excited to be recruiting for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Thirsk, North Yorkshire.
Role
The Management Accountant role is to produce primary financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow) and supplementary information in line with Group and accounting standards, for weekly, monthly and annual reporting cycles. Manage the financial internal control environment and prepare budgets and forecasts for the primary financial statements.
Responsibilities:
- Reconcile the trial balance and post journals where necessary to ensure the month end reports are in line with accounting standards and internal accounting policies.
- Assist in the production of primary financial statements, using the agreed template, to submit to Group within agreed timeframe
- Assist in the preparation of month end commentary for the profit and loss account, balance sheet, cash flow and supplementary information for inclusion in the relevant reporting
- Produce balance sheet, cash flow and fixed cost forecasts for inclusion in the site submission
- Monitor the established internal financial control environment to ensure that current standards are appropriate for the needs of the business. Enhance the control environment where there are opportunities to do so
- Produce fixed cost overhead analysis and supporting commentary to provide insight on key trends and propose corrective actions
- Monitor capital spend against budget / forecast to ensure spend is within agreed limits and exceptions are escalated
- Maintain the Fixed Assets register ensuring all items are clearly identified, exist and are allocated to relevant projects/assets and reconciled to the trial balance
- Complete all government returns (Office of National Statistics, VAT, Duty Reclaims) on time and without errors. Also compile annual corporation tax computation for submission to Group Tax function.
- Post and reconcile cash books. Produce cash flow forecast by week for the site with actual vs. forecast comparison completed weekly and explained
- Assist in the year end audit process, taking ownership for deliverables and responding to the audit team as necessary
Knowledge, skills and experience:
Qualified, finalist or Part Qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or QBE- Finance system management and internal control
- Knowledge of accounting standards
- Basic knowledge of corporation tax and VAT.
