Williamson Park attracts over 150,000 visitors a year and is one of the North West’s premier tourism attractions as recognised by Visit England. The main visitor attraction on site is the Edwardian Butterfly House and Zoo. To maintain the facilities ever growing reputation we are looking for a dynamic and committed person to join our team.
Your responsibilities as a Zoo Keeper will includethe day to day running of the Butterfly and Mini Beast House including feeding, watering, cleaning and maintaining the welfare of the collection. The successful candidate will also need to lead educational sessions, meet the keeper sessions and public talks. The collection comprises of some of the worlds most exotic butterflies and reptiles, insects, invertebrates and small mammals.
It is stated as an essential criteria in the job description that in order to be considered for this vacancy, you must be able to demonstrate that you have experience working with animals or collections that include reptiles, invertebrates, butterflies and small mammals which includes callitrichids and meerkats.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum qualification of NVQ Level 3 standard in Animal Care or equivalent experience of working with a similar collection to ours. Experience in a customer facing role is essential, as is the ability to work both with and without supervision.
A current, full UK driving licence is essential for this role.
This post is based at Williamson Park, and you will be working 37 hours per week and will be expected to work evenings and weekends on a shift rota basis.
The successful applicants will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
