Welfare Logistics Officer Maidstone, England

RE:ACT Disaster Response
Full Time Maidstone, England 1000 GBP MONTHLY Today
Job description

The Opportunity

Kent County Council (KCC) uses various traffic control measures to manage the traffic disruption caused by port closures. These measures fall under Op Fennel. Part of Op Fennel involves delivering vital life supporting welfare aid to people stuck in the traffic, which could be as much as several days. KCC has long sought to improve the efficiency of this aid support. As part of this improvement, KCC has asked RE:ACT to improve the efficiency and manage the procurement and distribution of the aid, working with various agencies.

RE:ACT is seeking an individual with humanitarian, management and logistics skills, who wants to be instrumental in helping Kent get aid to people caught in traffic following port closures.

This role is predominantly home based and enables flexible working patterns, but will require physical presence during Op Fennel events. There is also the need to attend routine meetings in Kent and occasionally in Chilmark, although some of these are carried out remotely.

What We Need from You

Essential Skills

  • Strong and proven planning and management skills, including problem solving.
  • Experience of crisis response.
  • The ability to rapidly respond to a Kent port closure event, regardless of when it might occur.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A strong belief in what RE:ACT does and an ambassador of our ethos and values.
  • You will be inclusive in all that you do, treating everyone with respect and dignity and enjoying the breadth and richness a diverse team brings.

What we Offer in Return

  • £1,000 per month retainer.
  • Generous holiday package of 25 days annual leave per year (excluding bank holidays and pro-rata for part time colleagues).
  • Pension scheme with employer contributions of 6% (ability to opt in/out).
  • The opportunity to make a difference and finish work each day knowing you have helped make a positive impact.
