This position can lead to a full-time position at The Valley Gazette.
We are seeking a highly motivated, community minded person to join our team.
The successful individual will love meeting new people and enjoy telling their stories that matter most to the community.
Experience is preferred but we’re willing to work and train the right individual.
The new Gazette reporter will:
- Keep their finger on the pulse of the community
- Have a natural curiosity of the world around them
- Work with a small team of reporters and freelance writers
- Write stories throughout the weekover various events, ranging from municipal council meetings to chasing breaking news stories
- Foster relationships in the communityHelp manage social media
Qualifications
- Previous experience would be an asset
- Have a nose for news
- Must have good organizations skills
- Must have leaderships skills
- Personable and tactful
- Must have own vehicle and own your own camera
- Must be able a team player and follow direction from the publisher
