Are you mechanically minded, like working outside and want to become an integral part of the team? Do you have a good work ethic, are detailed in your work and are honest?
This would suit a mature person looking to qualify in mechanics. The ideal candidate would already have some practical knowledge of vehicle and plant mechanics but wants to gain (further) knowledge, qualifications and who wants a structured career path.
This is a start at the bottom role with full training supplied through an in-house development role for the right candidate to take you all the way through your career. You will be expected to attend training courses with an approved training provider, in addition to in-house and ‘on the job training’ at our company and client’s sites.
You will need a driving license (clean/no points) and be personally motivated to develop your skill set and push the business forward. Capable of working without supervision and maintaining performance.
You must be prepared to work with Risk Assessments and adhere to Health & Safety policies at all times.
Basic Roles:
* Operating 5x different size stump grinders
* Basic maintenance and servicing on plant and vehicles developing into more
complex work with experience and qualifications
* Maintaining Biomass Boiler
* Planting Trees and Shrubs
* Undertaking felling of trees and extraction of timber
* Processing firewood with Log Splitter, Circular saw and firewood processor
* Delivering Firewood
* Operating mini-digger / groundwork
* Operating Telehandlers Large and Small
* Operating Compact Tractors
* Concreting and basic block work
* Welding
* Sharpening and Maintenance of Chainsaws, Hedge cutters, blowers, etc.
For the right candidate we will pay for training and the internal development is expected to be undertaken over phased periods. The phases of your internal development will commence after your probation period (<6mths) and will be structured as follows:
Phase 1
* Level 2 award in emergency First Aid at Work + Forestry
* Level 2 award in safe use of Stump Grinder
* Level 2 award in safe use of Brushwood Chipper/ Manually Fed Wood Chipper
* Trailer Driving License for trailers <3.5t (Data Academy).
* Operation of Cable Avoidance equipment
* Lantra Firewood Processor
* Lantra Abrasive Wheels
* Lantra Brush cutter
Phase 2
* NPTC 201/202 (CS30) Chainsaw Maintenance & Cross Cutting
* NPTC 203 (CS31) Level 2 award in felling and processing trees up to 380mm
* Welding Course (min. Mig)
* Lantra Rough Terrain Forklift
Phase 3
* 360 degree Excavator
* Mini – Articulated Loader
* Compact Tractor
* Road and Street Works signage / traffic lights
* Vehicle Electrics
* Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) IPAF
Phase 4
* Level 2 - Plant or Machinery Maintenance
* Level 3 - Plant or Machinery Maintenance
* Level 3 - Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair

This role is initially on a self employed basis
