Job description

The Faculty of Economics at the University of Cambridge is one of the leading, and longest standing, economics faculties in Europe. We are a dynamic, friendly and exciting place to work, where approximately 100 staff members maintain and grow our global reputation for outstanding academic achievement and world-class original research. The Cambridge Faculty of Economics undergraduate course is consistently rated No. 1 in The Complete University Guide, which means that competition for entry is stiff: with only students with top grades gaining admission. With approximately 170 undergraduates admitted each year to read for the three-year course, effective support for our staff and students is essential. We now seek to appoint a well-organised and enthusiastic Administrator to join the Undergraduate Office.

The Faculty is a dynamic, friendly and exciting place of work and is committed to supporting our staff to thrive both professionally and personally. Our Cambridge Works programme aims to support our staff to achieve a better work/life balance, whilst retaining the positive aspects of our unique in-person environment and culture. Hybrid working is available under our hybrid working policy, where staff are empowered to split their time between the office and remote working.

The Role

As Undergraduate Administrator, you will join the Teaching and Learning Team as part of the Undergraduate Office and will be principally responsible for:

  • Leading the administration for the Examination Board (Part 2A), by submitting examination papers, and delivering meeting administration, such as scheduling, drafting agendas and minutes and circulating papers.

  • Liaising with the Student Registry and external examiners to ensure the smooth running of the undergraduate examinations within the Faculty;

  • Supporting the allocation and scheduling of lectures, by populating and maintaining the Lecture List database, updating webpages and producing a draft Lecture List for review from relevant committees.

For more information please refer to Further Particulars.

What you will need

  • Be flexible and organised in their approach, with the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy in difficult or pressured situations;

  • Work with high degrees of accuracy, use their initiative to take work forward effectively and prioritise responsibilities accordingly.

Candidates are encouraged to apply even if not all criteria are met, training will be provided.
