Salary: £11.57 per hour (AM Shift) ; £12.93 per hour for (PM Shift) - Increasing once qualified, plus Veolia benefits
Hours: 6 am - 3 pm AM shift; 2 pm -10 PM Shift, 40 hours per week
Location: Croydon
Whilst a physically demanding role, you won’t be doing this alone. As part of a tight knit team you’ll be working alongside colleagues to make a positive impact everyday, working in all weathers within your community to make a difference.
You’ll progress through our trainee driver programme which includes obtaining a HGV medical and licence, theory sessions, self study and practical driver training days, all with our support throughout the process.
As you progress through the programme, your pay does too. Once you’ve passed and become qualified you’ll take on your new role as a HGV Class 2 Driver.

What will you be doing, while training?
- Collecting domestic waste from planned locations.
- Loading bins / waste onto vehicles.
- Learning from the driver within the team.
What will you be doing once qualified?
- Driving to planned collection locations and loading refuse into trucks.
- Supporting your crew with loading duties.
- Once qualified you would be completing daily checks of the vehicle as per our driver operator handbook.
- Using onboard technology to complete work notes.
- Once qualified you would be complying with all traffic laws and legislation including security and weight of loads.
What are we looking for?
