We require an experienced vehicle integration and test engineer to act as project lead and perform the integration and testing of bespoke customer payloads, 3rd party equipment and attend to trials to evaluate performance and demonstrate capability to our customers. You will be working with Malloy's entire engineering team to transfer new research and development projects into real capability for our customers. Leading a team of pilots, engineers, ground crew and technicians to evaluate and demonstrate cutting edge technologies.

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate for this position will develop a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of Malloy Aeronautics aircraft and systems. As a multidisciplinary engineer, they will tackle challenges in a fast-paced environment, leveraging their knowledge in areas such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, control systems, aerospace, and software engineering. Autonomy is crucial as the candidate should be capable of working independently, making informed decisions and demonstrating self-reliance and resourcefulness when necessary.

Full-time role for an immediate start.

Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.

Candidates must be able to obtain authorization to travel to the United States under the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Integrating and debugging complex systems involving electrical and electro-mechanical devices on aircraft and test fixtures
  • Work with internal and 3rd party engineering teams to integrate new systems and payloads into our vehicles
  • Defining work for engineers and technicians, as required to achieve integration goals
  • Create testing plans designed to evaluate the performance of every element of a new capability
  • Lead troubleshooting of issues that arise during ground/air tests
  • Design and build of new test fixtures
  • Collection and analysis of data for reporting and performance improvement identification
  • Supporting the planning of complicated national and international trials
  • Working with our Flight-Testing team in participating in pre- and post-flight procedures and working in the Ground Control Station

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • 3-to-5 years of Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical engineering experience working with drones, directly pertaining to vehicle design or robotic systems, preferably in the UAV space (professional setting)
  • Experience integrating electrical, electro-mechanical and software systems
  • Evidence of past work testing complex systems in an incremental and safe manner
  • Experience building vehicles or robots utilizing high power drives or actuators
  • Experience with instrumentation and data acquisition systems
  • Proficient in using CAD software (SolidWorks), and adept use of hand tools, power tools, and machining equipment are necessities for this role
  • Data analysis experience using off the shelf packages or self scripted in e.g. Python, C++
  • Experience working with composite structures
  • Software development experience, well-versed in protocols like Serial, I2C, and CAN, with the ability to support sensor and actuator integration as well as other subsystems
  • Machine automation exposure including use of sensors; EO, Lidar, radar sensors
  • Knowledgeable about mesh radios and their configuration, including frequencies and bandwidth
  • Methodical approach to reviewing logs, able to identify common problems (such as faulty GPS or Lidar), and competent in running debugging processes when troubleshooting issues
  • Capable of explaining technical details to customers in a concise and expert manner. An important aspect of the role involves promoting the capability of the product to interested parties and potential customers
  • Creating and owning documentation for a variety of technical, program, and testing needs
  • Ability to commit to national and international travel

QUALIFICATION:

Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable engineering field, or equivalent work experience
