After forming over one hundred years ago, Winder Power Group have a wide range of customers in the utility, renewable energy and industrial sectors. They have considerable experience of designing and manufacturing iron-shielded and gapped core reactors and other products such as; Bespoke Alternators & Generators, Power and Distribution Transformers & Factory Refurbishments.

They moved to their current premises in 2008 and are based in the heart of West Yorkshire. A modern factory covering 80,000 square feet, with free onsite parking, pool table in the canteen, work functions and much more offered!

Winder Power Group is growing rapidly and are providing an excellent opportunity for a Transformer Winding Operative to join the team in Pudsey LS28.

  • Working hours: Start 0730hrs to 1615hrs Monday to Thursday & 0730hrs to 12 noon on Friday, 37.5 hours a week. These working hours are subjected to our flexi time policy.

Duties/Responsibilities:-

  • Setting up and operating various coil winding machines to produce coils to specifications detailed on production drawing;
  • Operating cutting machines and producing complete sets of winding insulation;
  • Setting up of coil formers;
  • Winding of different types of transformer coils. Including bending leads, Crossovers, etc.;
  • Making end connections by brazing and bending;
  • Clamping of completed coils ready to be stored;
  • Ensuring area of work is kept clean and tidy at all times reducing contamination to products;
  • Ensure all quality control and customer specific documentation has been completed to specification;
  • Periodically, work to tight deadlines and show commitment to get the “job done”;
  • Carry out any reasonable ad-hoc duties requested by your direct Line Manager or the Management Team;
  • Promote teamwork and co-operation at all times, both within individual depots and right across the entire Winder Power group;
  • Safeguard all Company assets;
  • Treat all other employees and all our customers professionally and with respect;
  • Always act in the best interests of any of the Winder Power, and not to carry out (or fail to carry out) any action that would bring the company into disrepute;
  • Always work in a responsible manner to ensure safe working practices;
  • All information is to be dealt with in line with General Data Protection Regulations 2018;
  • Follow Health Safety Quality and Environmental guidelines provided by the company - currently ISO 9001:14001 and OHSAS 18001 procedures, including all future notifications;
  • Proactively contribute to the company’s policy of continuous improvement.

Qualifications/Skills required for the role:

  • GCSEs High school or equivalent;
  • Must have an extensive knowledge of Transformers;
  • Ability to read production drawings and connection diagrams, ensuring specifications are accurately reproduced during manufacture.
  • Apprentice trained in mechanical engineering (Not Essential);
  • Fork Lift Truck license (Desirable, training can be provided)
