About the role
We are looking for a Trainee Finance Assistant to assist in transactional, reconciliation, purchase/sale ledger and bank postings across the accounts team in our group operations.
This will involve supporting the processing of many aspects of accounting transaction for broking and lending business auto loans in Sage200 and on DSG Group proprietary systems.
You will develop analytical skills in a manner which will allow you to complete your job as efficiently and effectively as possible, including the development of a working knowledge of SQL database interrogation.
The jobholder impacts on all departments, senior management and investors in the provision of financial and management information.
Overall purpose: To work closely with your mentor / Finance Team and the wider business, develop the necessary skills to ensure that all transactions are entered accurate and in a timely manner to allow for the production of financial and management information.
Principal job elements and responsibilities:
- Reconciling and recording commission receipts in proprietary system and Sage200
- Processing purchase ledger transaction on Sage200
- Reconciling supplier ledger account
- Review, process and audit expenses in line with company policy
- Recording commission payments in proprietary systems and Sage200
- Processing month-end journals
- Assisting senior team members with reconciliations and month end tasks
- General accounting tasks across the group businesses
- Assisting senior team members with ad hoc tasks as required
About you
You will be looking to progress in a career in finance and accountancy with a view to obtaining professional qualifications as your professional experience develops and expands to include more moth end tasks.
You will be reliable and organised and able to follow clear instructions when delivered.
You will be a confident communicator, not hesitating to ask relevant questions of more experienced staff.
You will have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and particularly Excel.
Skills, knowledge, training required for job:
Essential
- Detail oriented, diligent and organised

- Ability to use initiative coupled with demonstrable problem-solving skills
- Minimum three years working experience in a similar environment

- Educated to Degree level
