We are looking for an experienced Scientist to provide Product Safety leadership for our Personal Health Care businesses in Europe and globally. This role will be based in Reading Innovation Centre, an inspiring centre of excellence that delivers (R&D) innovations for the Global markets.

THE ROLE:

This job will require you to work effectively in a global context, across multiple functions within R&D, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Global Safety Surveillance, Process, Technology and Communications, where you will provide strategic insights to the business, and represent safety within multi-disciplinary internal teams, as well as with external scientists and regulators. The role will involve preparation of safety assessments to support global products and ingredients from innovation through to launch alongside development of product safety capability.

Key responsibilities:

  • Accountable for category product knowledge including key safety issues and regulatory constraints in a Health Care context, covering oral and topical exposure.
  • Development of safety assessments for actives/raw materials (including botanical/natural substances) used in P&G’s Personal Health Care portfolio. This will involve:
    • review of complex data sets including pre-clinical and clinical safety data to develop safety assessment judgement;
    • assessment of potential for drug/drug, drug/herb and herb/herb interactions and potential for adverse events in a population;
    • support for safety-related product claims, development of label input and assessment of packaging.
  • Develop safety related information for our internal and external business partners, consumers, and medical professionals on our major brands in Personal Health Care. This will involve evaluation of the question or concern, partnering with other experts across multiple functions to establish an appropriate safety strategy and development of a safety risk assessment to fully address the need.
  • Additional responsibilities may involve developing specific technical expertise, knowledge and methodologies for safety risk assessment for communication with academic, professional or regulatory communities.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology preferred; an equivalent bioscience Masters will be considered.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Applicants must have a working knowledge of the effects of drugs, chemicals, biological materials, etc. on biological pathways.
  • Proven ability forming positive relationships with diverse customers and functions.
  • Passion to grow personal capability, technical proficiency, and develop the organization.
  • Ability to proactively identify skill/capability gaps and develop a learning plan to expand knowledge.
