Job description
Are you looking to work in a truly interdisciplinary team? Are you passionate about body-based and integrative approaches? Look no further! Family Futures is seeking dedicated trainee therapists to join our organisation.
Family Futures is a Voluntary Adoption Agency and Independent Fostering Agency specialising in providing assessment and treatment for children from the care system. Family Futures has been awarded an outstanding rating by OFSTED in 2022 for our fourth consecutive inspection.
In March 2023, we launched our new Wellbeing Hub which offers evidence-based, one-to-one therapy for children, young people, and families to improve their mental health, relationships, physical health, and engagement at school. Join our team and contribute to the development and delivery of this new service, making a positive impact on the wellbeing of our community. You will also have opportunities to work in our Complex Trauma Service as part of Multi-Disciplinary Assessments or large cases where an additional member of the team is needed to work with for example, a birth child.
We have a reputation for innovation and offer a high-quality service - an integrated multi-disciplinary, assessment, treatment and family-finding service for children who are traumatised or have attachment difficulties.
We believe that embracing different perspectives enriches our agency's culture and strengthens our ability to serve the children and families we work with. Therefore, we welcome applications from candidates from a wide range of lived experience and are actively recruiting people from the global majority, i.e. Black, Asian, dual heritage and minority ethnic groups as they are currently under-represented at our organisation.
You will be a final year student, training to be a play therapist, drama therapist, dance movement therapist, integrative arts, music therapist or arts psychotherapist.
We offer:
- One day release for your course
- 4 days’ per week work experience as a member of our multi-disciplinary team
- A full-time contract on successful completion of your course and meeting the person specification
An interest in developing and gaining accreditation in Theraplay or Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy would be important and are areas of training Family Futures will finance as part of continued professional development. We are looking for someone:
- who has experience of working with children and families
- who has an understanding of Family Futures Neuro Physiological Psychotherapy (NPP) approach to the treatment of developmentally traumatised children
- who is parent-positive and child friendly
- who wishes to develop their therapeutic skills in working with children, parents and families
- who would enjoy working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
This is an exciting and challenging role and a wonderful opportunity for someone who wants to be part of a team of professionals who are helping children and their families based on the most recent neuro-scientific research.
Family Futures is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff to share this commitment. The organisation follows safer recruitment practices to protect children and adults at risk of harm, and will require the successful applicant to undertake an Enhanced DBS disclosure.
We offer excellent staff development opportunities and a highly nurturing environment. We are an equal opportunities employer and committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workforce. We encourage applications from suitably qualified applicants regardless of age, disability, sex, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief and marriage and civil partnerships.
Family Futures is a menopause friendly employer.
Family Futures offers high-quality supervision and professional development training. We also offer a nurturing environment for staff to work in as we recognise that this is a stressful area of work.
