About the Supervisor role in the Night Shift Replen Department
As a Night Shift Replen Supervisor you will be responsible for warehouse replenishment, consolidation, and other departmental duties as per Receiving, Processing, Shipping, Inventory Control and Returns departments.
You will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of all areas during night shift at the Distribution Centre by organising, planning, co-ordinating and distributing tasks to meeting the daily, weekly, monthly and yearly objectives according to deadlines and with respect to process and procedures, in a safe and secure environment ensuring the wellbeing of the team members.
Additionally, this position will manage the areas covered by night shift to meet internal and external customer expectations whilst implementing and communicating the objectives to meet company targets. You will track KPI’s and manage operational costs per shift / area as well as develop, coach and support the Team Leaders and team members to achieve short-term as well as future goals whilst promoting a positive attitude and energy in the work environment.
Main responsibilities
OPERATION MANAGEMENT
- Effectively manage UKDC operations on night shift and manage any shortages.
- Prepare daily planning and communicate effectively to the appropriate people.
- Create, manage, and review handover documents for day shift to ensure seamless communication.
- Ensure that all operational goals are met by building and implementing your areas plan with your Team Leader as and when required. Follow-up areas plan continuously.
- Oversee and manage the replen of the warehouse.
- Consolidate stock, stock control and problem-solving during warehouse replenishment.
- Conduct and facilitate Team Leader meetings as appropriate.
- Continually aim to enhance your operational areas to optimise capacity and productivity and liaise with the appropriate people to implement successfully where appropriate.
- Effectively plan to ensure costs are kept to a minimum and achieve the goal cost per unit as advised by the Operations Manager.
- Maintain Distribution Centre service levels and operate within guideline budgets.
- Assist in handling general close out of wave(s).
- Assist in managing general set-up for next day’s business-review box requirements, staging of product for induction, etc.
- Perform Quality Control.
- Provide daily progress reports for department to Operations Manager.
If required:
- Manage the pick/pack operations, VAS, ticketing and corrugated deck operations.
- Monitor and track the productivity of the loading of freight, ensuring the completion of orders prior to shipping.
- Maintain the accuracy of completed orders staged on the shipping dock pending the carriers’ arrival.
- Monitor and track productivity of the unloading of freight ensuring completion of orders before staging.
- Maintain the accuracy of completed orders staged on the receiving dock before carriers’ departure.
- Assist with picking pallets from location reports ready for shipping the following day, depending on the workload.
PEOPLE MANAGEMENT
- Effectively manage your team to deliver optimum performance.
- Drive the evaluation process for Team Leaders and employees, to maintain communication and expectations.
- Support and motivate Team Leaders to achieve their daily and weekly goals.
- Effectively manage all employee relation cases to a timely and cost-effective conclusion.
- Ensure that Team Leaders drive any improvements by communicating and motivating their team.
Core skills as a Supervisor
- Experience in people management in a Distribution Centre environment is essential
- Ability to handle complex situations in a professional manner
- Demonstrable experience in motivating individuals and a team to achieve targets
- Must possess excellent oral/written analytical skills
- Must have a good knowledge of health and safety procedures (IOSH qualified desirable)
- Certified Equipment Operator is desirable
- Must have knowledge of shipping, receiving, processing and stock control functions
- Ability to communicate with all levels of management and employees to maintain productivity whilst ensuring all customer requirements are met in a timely manner
- Ability to learn company customised programs such as AS400
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel or other spreadsheet programs
