You Will:
Responsible for assisting with the design and completion of experiments at lab and pilot-scale to evaluate new fermentation technologies, optimize existing technologies, troubleshoot problems at manufacturing sites, and/or perform process development work for new products. In addition, this position will assist the team as needed in process scale-up and qualifying the process at production scale.
Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct laboratory and pilot-scale experiments to evaluate new fermentation technologies, optimize existing technologies, and/or perform process development work for new products. Interpret and communicate results.
- Lends expertise to the manufacturing and pilot plant sites, assisting with scale-up to production, troubleshooting, and provide technical coverage on shifts as assigned.
- Analyze, interpret and communicate results while maintaining notebooks and records.
- Participates in HAZOP and PSA teams and represents one or more relevant disciplines in the team.
- Travel domestically and internationally for manufacturing or quality support, technical consultation, and training.
- Follows all SHE instructions and procedures to include awareness of and following all DSM Life Saving Rules. Acts in such a way that safety awareness and accident prevention are considered in performing all tasks.
- Ensures Quality procedures, Management Directives and Quality improvement projects are supported and followed.

You Bring:
- Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt prior training or certification preferred or ability to attain DSM certification of Lean Six Sigma Greenbelt within one to two years.
- Previous experience in a GMP biotech/pharmaceutical/food environment helpful.
- Requires broad knowledge of engineering theories, concepts, and practices with the ability to use these in complex, difficult and/or unprecedented situations.
- Requires an advanced level of computer literacy, basic data entry skill with spreadsheet programs and proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).
- Good working knowledge and understanding of GLPs and cGMPs Food.
- Ability to provide technical support in the pilot plant and at manufacturing sites on shifts as assigned.
- Requires ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally for manufacturing or quality support, technical consultation and training.
