Job Introduction

We are looking for a Technical Producer to join the BBC Audio Technical Production Team based in Salford.

The majority of the audio for the national BBC Radio stations is handled by BBC Audio Technical Production at some stage in its journey to air and our Salford Team is a key part of delivering that to our audiences.

This team works on a range of output from studios with shows on R2, R3, R4, 6Music and recorded Drama, plus major music festivals such as Glastonbury and regular Outside Broadcasts such as Any Questions, Sunday Worship, Radio 3’s Live In Concert, Football and Cricket.

Main Responsibilities

Technical Producers (Broadcast Engineers) are expected to have the required knowledge and experience to undertake all the duties of an Assistant Technical Producer and on occasions, you will be required to assume responsibility for the entire sound operation of a production, leading teams and deploying staff and other resources in the most effective manner. You will also be relied upon to deliver the audio aspects of productions on time and to budget.

Are you the right candidate?

The ideal candidate will demonstrate they have well-developed craft skills (in particular complex engineering/balancing on mixing desks), with the ability to lead teams on larger and more demanding productions; you should feel confident to be able to offer operational and creative guidance and advice to other Production staff. You should demonstrate an enthusiastic interest in the professional audio field and show that you keep pace with new developments. You will also need to demonstrate you have good communication skills and experience of managing relationships both within the team and outside. You should have good planning and organising skills, project management skills, be financially astute, and demonstrate a flexible approach to work.
